It Still Works!

Meredith has always had a hard time with Daddy holding her... well at least in the evenings when only Mommy will do. Daddy used to be really good at getting Meredith to stop crying by playing the piano, but he has not done it in a while though because she was so squirmy.

Last night Timothy held her while I needed a break, because I had a bad headache from listening to her scream earlier. Meredith, as usual, started screaming once she realized that it wasn't me holding her, so Timothy decided to play the piano for her again. This picture is from today when he gave me another break! Tonight Daddy let her "play" the piano, but she ended up getting angry again because he made her stop when she tried to eat the keys.

As you can see it has been a while since we took pictures of Meredith at the piano with Timothy. Meredith will be a budding musician soon! Her legs just need to grow so she can reach the pedals...

I couldn't resist

Since Meredith thinks she knows she can rule the world, I thought I would reveal an embarrassing shot of her. It just makes Mollie and me laugh -- the true side of Meredith. It's the drama queen (ham) in full glory. She says, "You want me to do what?"

I am the COOLEST kid on the block!

Yo, check out my shades! I don't see any other baby on the block with such cool specs like these! I suppose it isn't hard when I am pretty much the only baby on the block -- but that's not the point. The point here is that I'm cool and I like my new sunglasses. Thanks out to my hip G-ma Kat for hooking me up with these phat shades. Now the weather will just have to get sunny again so that I can show every other baby in San Antonio how cool I am!

To Roll Over, or Not to Roll Over...

So my Mom and Dad think that it is great I've learned how to roll over from my tummy to my back. I just think that rolling over is for the birds. So I've decided to protest by not rolling over every time my Mom or Dad put me on the floor with the camera in their hands. That will teach them to think I'll do what they want when they want me to.

Do you think they know what I'm thinking?

Rolling

I HATE tummy time! I finally succeeded in rolling off of my darn tummy! Mama had just about given up on me ever learning to roll from my tummy to my back at least she concluded I would learn to roll from back to tummy first (like my friend Ryan). But last night daddy put my on my tummy and I was already mad. I decided that I had ENOUGH of the tummy so I just pushed hard with my right hand. Sure enough onto my back I went Mama and Daddy clapped and got all excited which made Gilligan excited and he came and stepped on me HOW RUDE! Again Mommy and Daddy put my on my tummy well by now I'm a pro(granted it was just the second time) and I rolled over again. Every time now that i am put on my tummy i have rolled over. I have stayed on my tummy for a little bit. If I try really hard I may get my legs under me one of these days and then there will be no stopping me!! I can't wait to be able to move where i want to go! (we will see if mommy can't get a picture mid roll this afternoon!)

Ouch!!

Meredith of course as you know is getting bigger and bigger every day. She has a new addition to her mouth now! She has teeth. Well if you must know there is only one sticking through at this point BUT the other one you can see and it is RIGHT there so any day now Meredith will have two teeth to bite mommy with! She enjoys mostly biting on our fingers but will take a wash cloth, rings, teething anything pretty much if it is around her hands she will try to get it into her mouth. She has even tried to get Gilligan's ear into her mouth. Mommy and Gilligan did not think that was very funny. She is not all that much fun to be around at this moment because of the teething but this too shall pass. To see her teeth, be sure to click on the picture!

Finally!

Mommy and Daddy are the bestest!!! I finally got to eat from a spoon just like them. Daddy kept getting close to me with the black thing that makes funny noises but it was not really distracting because I kept my focus. I hope that there is plenty more where that came from!

Just Like Mom

Meredith has been watching us eat well since she was born we have always set her in her high chair while we eat not only because it is nice for her to be so close but because it is good social interaction for her and we like eating as a family. Well, we eat and she watches. Until tonight. Meredith took to eating like a fish does to water! I have been reading all this information about when to start feeding solids and how to do it and to use this kind of spoon or no spoon at all and use my finger or do it this way or that way. I was not worried about messing up but more worried about starting too soon. I just do not see a point of feeding Meredith something unless it will actually get eaten. Well the rice cereal got eaten! and it was well documented by Daddy. All 139 pictures. I hope that I am not expected to scrap book all of those.

Dad, this is great!

This is probably the first of a few posts from when Mollie and I fed Meredith her first solid food. We took a lot of pictures (139 after deleting a few that weren't in focus) and posted them to a new photo album at Meredith's Picasa web site. The event started out with a cranky Meredith, but after a little bit of holding and rocking her, she calmed down for quite a good feeding. She even ate all of the food we had made, even though some places Mollie had read said she may only eat a few bites.

Meredith has been showing interest in solid food for a while now. While we were in Michigan for Christmas, she would sit on Mollie or my lap as we ate. Most of the time (as long as she wasn't throwing a fit) she was trying to get a hold of the plate and the food on it. She has also often watched us closely as we eat at home. Now that she's nearly five months old (really 4 months and three weeks), we thought we should be fine. I believe Mollie had said our pediatrician was fine with us feeding her solid foods at four months.

Anyway, it all went off without much of a problem. Meredith had the time of her life and enjoyed eating up every last morsel that she could. She didn't even make that much of a mess (granted there was food all over her face). One thing that I wanted to point out from my perspective (Mollie fed her tonight) during the feeding was how most every time after eating a bite she would look back at me. The look was priceless -- something like, "Dad, this is GREAT! Why did I have to wait so long?" See the picture on this post if you don't believe me...

Jumping for Joy

Hi all I have had this great thing called a Jumparoo for a about a week and Mommy just finally got around to getting pictures of me in it! I LOVE it! I can jump and stand and do flips ok ok I have not figured out how to do flips yet but give me time and I will have it down! Just look at my face who could say that i was not having a good time. Mom and I decided that we would put two pictures of it up one where you can see all of me and one where you can see my beautiful face!

Meredith's first campout!

Mollie, Meredith, Guinevere, Gilligan, and I went on a camping trip this weekend to Goliad State Park in Goliad, Texas. We chose this park because it was relatively small, which meant we wouldn't ever be too far from the campsite or car in case we needed to get something for Meredith (in other words we were being extra cautious).

Even if we were being cautious this first time out, we all had a blast! The weather turned out to be gorgeous -- highs around 80 and lows around 60. No rain (with the exception of a heavy fog overnight) and only a few clouds. Meredith had a blast on the short hike we took. She spent much of the time sleeping in a backpack we bought her for Christmas.

Of course the puppies had a blast, as they always do. Mollie and I also had a good time -- it's been since June that we last went camping. In the past, we've usually been out camping at least in October and November, but with Meredith we didn't want to go out too early. We had plans to go to Goliad State Park back in November (the weekend after Thanksgiving), but the weather took a turn for the worse with highs in the 50s and drizzle. Good thing we waited!

I've posted a picture here, but I also have a larger set of pictures at the following link: Goliad State Park . Enjoy!

New Pictures at Picasa!

Mollie and I started a new web album at Meredith's Picasa web site. The link is on the right, but you can also go here: 4 - 6 Months. We're trying out separating the albums by age to limit the number of pictures in each. We figured if they got too large it might get difficult to find that favorite picture of her! :)
