Meredith Can Walk!

Meredith walking is a bit like a joke my fifth grade teacher told my class once. The joke goes, "I have a dog that can stand up on its hind legs ... if you hold his front legs up!"
The video shows Meredith walking behind her new car walker. She's starting to understand how to use it on her own, though she can't get too far yet. She certainly hasn't learned how to turn. All in time, I'm sure.
This is a video Mollie made from our new cameras, so I apologize for its small size and poor quality. Phones are made to be phones, not video cameras...
Enjoy!

Like Momma, Like Meredith

I learned what my Momma does today. She's a teacher! Not only of me, but of many children like me. Since I'm such a good girl, I wanted to be just like her by teaching everyone that I know. This includes Larry, Sam I am, Teddy, Baby, Pooh, and Elephant (why is he purple, anyway?).
I started out the lesson by reading one of my favorite books, "God Made You Special." Larry especially liked this, but I haven't ever figured out why. Maybe some day? Then I read another book, "Witzy's Colorful Garden." During this book, Larry didn't behave very nice so I had to tell him to calm down (see, I'm even learning that from my Momma!). He sure wants to be the center of attention all the time! He did just fine with the first book... So I asked that he do just as well on the second as the first. He seemed to take it well.
Anyway, it's off to the next lesson -- learning colors with different colored play dough. What fun! Stuffed animals don't have a long attention span, you know. And it is hard to get pictures while teaching at the same time.

The Daddy Carry

I mentioned a while back that while in the pool I tried the daddy carry. This is the best picture we have thus far of the daddy carry. Normally with the daddy carry both of Timothy's hands are under her legs. He gets lots of stares and lots of comments. Most of the time Meredith is happy to be in the daddy carry. In this photo she is wanting to move to see other things though.

Like Daddy, Like Daughter

Normally the saying goes "like father like son", but I'll just amend it a little bit. Mollie was saying that not long ago she was talking with someone about how Meredith is starting to look like me more day by day. He mentioned how his three year old daughter is starting to do the same and how it may not actually be that good of a thing.
For now I think we're just fine with Meredith looking like me. It's keeping her cute :) Not to say Mollie isn't beautiful, but just to say that at least she doesn't look like Gilligan or something weird like that...
So here we are out on the town in Hemisfair Park in downtown San Antonio having a great time. We were there to take 9 month pictures of Meredith, but we couldn't have a photo shoot without pictures of Meredith with her Daddy, could we? (Come to think of it, I think that's happened a lot... maybe because I've been the one taking the pictures.)
Come fly away with me!

I'm now officially nine months old. I think that makes me old enough to ...
well ...
to tell you to go see all of the great pictures of me in my new Picasa web album! See 9 month birthday or use the link in the right column. My Daddy also uploaded another new album that you can view if you'd like --- it's me nursing with my Momma.
Don't be afraid to comment on how cute I am, because it can't ever be bad to let me know ;) Momma and Daddy are even thinking about submitting one of the pictures to a new San Antonio Parks and Recreation photo contest -- let's hope I win!

Hello Family and Friends! I am just stopping in to tell you all about the wonderful photos that Mama and Daddy took of me today. There are so many of them (355 of the 9 months pictures and 105 of the nursing pictures). From the numbers you can tell I am having a hard time picking out just a few to share with you. Of course after I am done posting to you Daddy will get on the computer and post them all on the side bar so if you wanted you could look at all of them.
I finally found one that captures our town in one photo!

I originally thought I was going to nurse for 6 months. Because "breast is best". I really did not think that I would like it as much as I have. Growing up I never knew anyone who actually breast fed their babies. While working in Owatonna I was exposed to breastfeeding and it was "fine" for those moms but still I really did not think much about it even though kids were always in the back of my mind. Once Timothy and I found out we were having a baby I really started to think about it. I thought I can do 6 months. My OB told me that she bet I could make it to a year. I thought well lets see how the first few weeks go. I had heard horror stories from friends and neighbors. I was amazed when Meredith not only took to it well but would not take anything else. She has never taken more then 2 oz of anything (formula or breast milk) out of a bottle; not for lack of trying either. There were several Sunday nights that Timothy said he tried really hard to get her to take more but she would have nothing to do with it. I have been very blessed that breast feeding has come easily to us and we have a supportive environment where I can feed her (out in public and at home). Today when taking Meredith's 9 months pictures Timothy and I found a secluded spot on the river walk that was just the spot to take nursing photos. I am thankful that we have been able to take photos for posterity sake. I know it will be one of the things I miss most when we are done having children. I attached one of my favorite photos from the session. (I think it is very tasteful).

Meredith and I were playing Peek-A-Boo the other day. Daddy did a photo shoot during the play session. It is so much fun to see her excitement at thinks like seeing my face. She would get so happy and clap her hands! Yesterday we were looking out the front window and I "hid" behind our curtains and would say Boo at her. She was giggling up a storm! AHH it is the little things! It is when things like that happen that make me so thankful that I can stay home.
Pictures are

2)Meredith seeing Mama getting ready to clap

Dad, you better watch out. You used to be able to take pictures of me without me moving. But now that I can crawl, I have other things on my mind -- like playing with the camera and licking the lens!
So keep an eye out for me and always look over your shoulder. You never know when you're taking a picture and I might just be right THERE!
Better start saving now...

Just one more thing before I head back to the ol' crib -- Happy Mother's Day, Momma!
I know I gave you a card yesterday and showed you how much I love you, but I thought I would just remind you again. You're the bestest Momma any baby could ever ask for! Here's my smiling face to prove it.
XOXOXO
p.s. -- Now I really better get going, because I swear I hear somebody in the next room typing on the computer keyboard. But, how could that be when I'm typing this post? hmm....
p.p.s -- I really love my Momma!
I'm not sure if I should tell you this...

But this thing here on the ground looks awfully yummy!
Hey, it's me the cutest Meredith around. Momma, Daddy, and I went camping this past weekend and had a great time! It was quite toasty outside, but we survived.
I just thought I would give you a few updates on how I'm growing. My eighth tooth has just barely begun to break through, I'm starting to cruise around the living room on my own, and I can crawl around with the best babies around! My Momma just got me this car looking thing that she says is a walker. I just don't know why she can't hold my hands all day to walk me around. Oh well. Momma or Daddy will have to post a new picture of me with it sometime soon.
I've moved on to saying "s" and "z". My Momma says it's because I have teeth now, but I'd hate to be the one to tell her that I really was just getting tired of saying "d" and "g". They're just overrated anyway. Not every nearly nine month old can babble in plural! ;)
Just in case you didn't realize, I'll be nine months old here in a few days. I imagine my Momma and Daddy have some sort of picture taking planned, so you'll have to keep looking here for more pictures of my cute, pinchable face!
Gotta go -- I think Momma and Daddy hear me awake. I'm supposed to be sleeping now -- it's already 8:30 pm!

Mischievous Toddler in the Making

I know I can get into things these days!!! I can't wait to turn into a toddler tornado! I am practicing hard to spill, get into, and generally wreak havoc on everything in my path. These past few days I have learned to pull myself up, to move around while pulled up, to hold onto Mama's or Daddy's hands and walk, to sit from a crawl and to stand when I should be sleeping. I can't wait to see what tomorrow holds! I bet Mama can't either! I also have decided that sleeping is over rated! I would much rather be with Mama downstairs learning new things.
